Waitrose, based in Bracknell , Berkshire, announces it is to create 2,000 new jobs and open 14 shops across the UK.
This retailer is bucking the trend set by Tesco and Morrisons who recently declared that they would be shutting their non-profitable stores and mothballing future developments as they take stock of their market share and refocus on their core businesses.

Waitrose is to create 2,000 jobs this year as it opens new sites and expands existing stores. The Bracknell-based upmarket retailer is opening 14 shops across the UK from spring this year, including seven supermarkets and seven little Waitrose convenience shops. The new supermarkets include Wollaton (Nottinghamshire), Milngavie (East Dumbartonshire), Bagshot, Oxford, King's Cross (which will incorporate a new cookery school), Basingstoke and Guildford.
